Act Write Here

Runs on teem

Act Write Here is open!

We're out of beta and open to everyone. Writers, bring your script and hear a live cast read it out loud for the first time. Actors, claim a part in a brand-new story and perform it from wherever you are.

To everyone who read with us during the beta: thank you. You showed up for scripts nobody had heard yet, and you told us what to fix. This launch is yours too.

A plan for every writer and actor

Pick Free, Standard or Premium on the Billing page in Settings.

  • Free starts you with 3 tickets, adds 3 more each month, and lets you jump into any read happening in the next 24 hours.
  • Standard adds 6 tickets a month and opens full-length projects and Open casting. Tickets you don't use carry over for 3 months.
  • Premium adds 20 tickets a month, lets you choose who reads your script, and gives your project a premium card.

Writers who want to pick the cast for a single project can buy a One-Time read without a plan. It comes with 2 bonus tickets that never expire, and if the read doesn't fill, you get it back.

Your project has a home: its chat

We post each project's news in its chat: the day it goes live, every actor who joins, a role opening up, a date change, and reminders 2 days, 1 day and 1 hour before the read. Joins, reminders and the wrap-up reach you by email too. When the read ends, the chat stays open so the cast and the writer can talk it through.

Meet your cast again

Open Connections from your avatar menu to find everyone you've shared a table read with. Filter by location, school, union status or the project you read together, and click through to their profile.

Bring a friend, get tickets

Your personal link lives under Refer a friend in the profile menu. Your friend gets 2 tickets when they sign up, and you get 2 when they cast their first project or land their first role.

And there's more

  • New accounts open with an abridged Peter Pan for seven readers, so you can see how casting works before you add your own script.
  • Your profile has a longer ethnicity list, optional gender and ethnicity, a dialect field you can type into, and the real unions, including five international writers' guilds.
  • Your full name runs corner to corner across every script page you read.
  • Writers schedule reads at least 3 days out, giving Auto Cast time to fill the cast.
  • Help, feature requests and the help center sit together on every page.
  • Start and End table read work again in the room, and the room's clock matches the time you scheduled.

Pull up a chair. Your next table read is waiting. And if you have an idea or hit a snag, send it to us from any page.
